Rare YongZheng Period Blue and White Sleeve Vase

The body of gently tapered form decorated with enclosing alternating blooms of camellia and peony on long leafy stems vibrantly painted in underglaze-blue, the sloping shoulder with a band of floral scroll. The base inscribed with the six-character seal mark of ‘Da Qing Yong Zheng Nian Zhi’.

In homage to the creativity and spohistication evidenced in the Xuande blue and white works, later Chinese potters often tried to recapture their look and quality. Nonetheless, from this piece's astonishing underglaze blue, we can eaisly see that is an impossible task. This brush wahser was probably made during the middle period of Xuande era, brown and iron spots are over the body, no glaze was applied on the base, the six-character mark, which means "Made during the Xuande era of the great Ming Dynasty", is written in two lines in regular script.

Differing from the usual heavy and thick brush strokes seen on Ming dynasty’s blue and white porcelains, grapes and leaves are vividly painted with fine exquisite lines, probably influenced from famous doucai cup from Chenghua period. Six-character mark on the base, which means ‘Made during the Jiajing period of the great Ming dynasty’.

This vase is in form of cylindrical form with flat base and tall waisted neck, finely painted around the exterior in rich cobalt-blue tones with a court lady dancing, a body and old lady watching, all standing within a fenced garden of rocks and plants, divided by swirling mist and with mist engulfed mountains in the distance, between incised lines at the base and shoulder, the neck with a pendent stiff leaf band.

Small Xuande Bird Food Pot

Bird fodd pot was used to hang in the bird cage to supply food or water. Pattern of leaves are painted continuously on the pot, leaves themselves are rendered with heavily painted glaze that creates dark black spots, an effect known in English translation from the Chinese as "heap-and-pile." This pot has been broken in several pieces, and was glued together.

Blue and White Bruash Holder - Yong-Zheng Mark and Period

Three attributes - what would be called in Chinese "three perfections" - combine to make this cylindrical vessel a rare work of art: the purity of tis procelain clay, the artistry of the flower painting, and the quality of the firing. The height and width are in pleasing proportion. The exerior wall has been masterfully painted with a continuous flowers. Six characters are on the bottom.
